White House Spring Garden Tour

This past Saturday, I went to the White House Spring Garden Tour. Doesn't my date look adorable? I was pretty excited. I mean its the White House, come on! Saif was pretty excited but I'm pretty sure he thought we were going inside.  The tour started at 2 and of course we got there at 2:15ish. Don't worry, we made it! Probably a good thing we arrived late, the security line was short. We passed security, were handed a pamphlet and that was it. We got to walk around the White House Garden, surrounded by men with big guns, and see which president planted what. It was super sunny so I didn't get many pictures but I did get the front of the White House. The weird thing was, it actually isn't as big as you think it would be. After watching White House Down, I definitely want to get a tour of the inside.

Next thing to visit in DC: Library of Congress.

Ball game

I must post these pictures tonight or otherwise Bushra might just commit an assault and battery on me. Today we went to the Nationals game against the New York Mets. The kids schools start Tuesday and Bushra wanted to take them out before the studying started again. Although I'm not a big sport follower, I do enjoy going to a baseball game. My first one was in 2008--my awesome neighbors (Amy & Brian) took me. The best part about the experience was as we were leaving the stadium, a foul ball came towards our direction and Brian actually caught it (or attempted to). After a struggle with some other people who wanted to claim the ball, Brian finally got control of it and gave it to me! First ball game and I got a foul ball. I'm not bragging but come on, that's a pretty good story. Here are my quick phone shots to prove my story.

Anyways, today my sister dropped the kids off at my work and I drove them to DC. Even with navigation, I got lost for about 29 minutes (that's right, 29 minutes). I hate driving in DC and on top of that, I'm horrible with directions. Horrible. Finally got to Bushra's work and like always Bushra didn't show up 20 minutes later. We drove to the park and found an incredibly close, too good to be true, parking near the stadium. After paying for the parking on the phone we finally read the sign that said "no parking during events" (oh and the cars parked nearby were all cop cars). I really wanted to move the car but Bushra convinced me to leave it there (mainly because she said she would pay any parking ticket I would get and was a parking ticket "expert").

We then walked to our seats and enjoyed the Presidents Race and the game (excuse the quality of the pictures, these were taken from my phone)

The Nats were so close to winning but lost 3-2 or is it 2-3 (my knowledge of baseball comes from playing the Wii). After the game, they had a great firework show sponsored by American University (it lasted much longer and was much better than I expected--definitely worth the wait).

After the fireworks, I rushed out to make sure my car was still there and hadn't been towed (I took a quick shoe shot during the walk back--I love these shoes!)

As I got closer to the car, I didn't see any of the police cars parked near my car but before I could have my panic attack, I saw my beautiful blue civic parked right where I left it. When I got closer to the car, I realized I had not only not gotten towed (that made sense, I think) but I never got a parking ticket! Alhamdulillah. As if that wasn't a great way to end a Friday, we had Taco Bell on the way home. A happy end to a happy day :)
